Minister to activate 365 Days of Activism Campaign

Tuesday, April 14, 2015

Pretoria – The Minister in the Presidency responsible for Women, Susan Shabangu, will this morning activate the #365Days of Activism campaign at Botleng Secondary School in Delmas as part of her Imbizo programme.

The #365Days of Activism campaign is aimed at mobilising members of society and organisations across all sectors in the fight to eradicate violence against women and children and also address issues of bullying and substance abuse.

Delmas has been on the news in recent times about young people battling addictions to nyaope – a cocktail drug that has resulted in many youths resorting to a life of crime.

Following the school visit, Minister Shabangu will engage with community members on government’s programme of action and to promote social partnerships and receive feedback from the citizens.

Meanwhile in Gauteng, Deputy Minister in the Presidency, Buti Manamela, will visit Tumi Motsepe of Santino Body Essentials - another beneficiary of the National Youth Development Agency grant programme.

Tumi Motsepe of Santino Body Essentials received a grant to purchase an industrial sewing machine to manufacture t-shirts, aprons, bathrobes and uniforms for corporations.

This forms part of the Deputy Minister’s visits to monitor progress on the young people who have been given a hand by government to advance their enterprises and create jobs. - SAnews.gov.za
