Rustenburg - North West MEC for Health and Social Development, Rebecca Kasienyane, will on Wednesday meet with private doctors in an attempt to build relations between the department and private health practitioners.

Ms Kasienyane made a pledge to visit every corner of the province to get first hand information on the conditions of health facilities following the merger of the Departments of Health and Social Development under the new administration.

The evening meeting will take place at the health facility in the Bojanala Platinum District and will be followed by a visit to Brits Hospital on Thursday afternoon.

The MEC will also officially open a Trauma Unit at Job Shimankana Tabane Hospital.

The opening of the newly equipped unit with modern technology is part of the ongoing revitalization projects that are intended to improve the emergency and clinical service delivery in the province, particularly the trauma units.

During her first visits to the Vryburg Hospital in the Dr Ruth Segomotso Mompati District, Christiana Hospital and the Taung Hospital last month, Ms Kasienyane said she wanted to see for herself the challenges that health professionals were facing.

The MEC also pledged her undivided attention and leadership to accelerate health and social service delivery in the province. She told health professionals that working together and supporting one another would accelerate health services.

"I am aware of the complexities and many challenges within this sector hence I will not fool you or myself into thinking that all these challenges will be dealt with, with relative ease.

"However, with all working together and supporting one another, a success story can be told," she said at the time.
