Mangaung - Mangaung Local Municipality is gearing up for the 2010 FIFA World Cup spectacle by launching their anti-human trafficking and risky sexual behaviour campaign today.
The municipality said there were concerns about the expected high rate of human trafficking that is brought by the hosting of the tournament.
"Women and children will be brought into the country and the city as victims of this crime and cheap labour.
"More women and children are used as sex workers during events of this magnitude. Sex workers are amongst the 'high risk groups' of HIV and AIDS and STI's in the country," the municipality said in a statement.
During the launch, information on how people can protect themselves from either human trafficking or risky sexual behaviour will be available.
The municipality also intends to have testing and information stalls for the duration of the World Cup.
The stalls or information points are expected to be placed near the stadium for assistance and distribution of condoms, HIV Counselling and Testing.
The Free State Provincial Government, human rights groups, South African Police Service, faith based organisation, student groups, youth organisations, political parties and the public are expected to attend the event.
