Johannesburg - With only three games left before the end of the 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup, the Local Organising Committee (LOC) says its happy with the manner in which the tournament was run in South Africa.

"By the look of things, we seem to be on the right path. Everything seems to be going smoothly.

"We have asked different constituencies, including the players, broadcasters, referees and FIFA - and generally, everyone is happy," said LOC Chief Executive Officer Danny Jordaan on Monday.

He said the park-and-ride, introduced to ferry fans from their cars to the stadium, had been working well despite a few challenges.

Although supporters said the park-and-ride worked on arrival at the stadium, many said the system was chaotic at the end of the match. Dr Jordaan promised the issue would be looked into.

Regarding the alleged robbery incident on some members of the Egyptian team, Deputy Minister of Police, Fikile Mbalul,a said the theft related to the team was an unfortunate one.

"We are making a follow up to check what exactly happened but we are confident there has been no major security breach in the incident," said Mr Mbalula.

Last week, some members of the Egyptian team was allegedly robbed at their hotel. The South African Police Service is currently investigating the incident.

Meanwhile, around 4 000 volunteers are being used in all four cities where the tournament is being played.

The volunteers have been drawn from all sectors of society to assist in ensuring the success of the event.

Thirty one goals have been scored so far while 492 000 tickets have been sold, up by 2 000 from what was sold by Germany in the 2005 Confederations Cup.
