Limpopo tourism calls for Lilizela Awards entries

Monday, November 17, 2014

Pretoria – The Limpopo Tourism Agency (LTA) together with South African Tourism has called for entries for the 2015 Lilizela Awards.

This comes after the successful staging of the national Lilizela Awards last month in Johannesburg.

The closing date for the submission of entries is 15 May 2015. Consumer voting is also open to members of the public, and the closing date is 31 May 2015.

Lilizela is a Nguni word meaning to ululate, an act of congratulations when someone has done something well, a name that truly distinguishes these uniquely African awards from the mainstream.

The Awards recognise and reward tourism players and businesses who work passionately and with pride to deliver world class product and service and whose delivery grows South Africa’s global destination competitiveness.

“The Lilizela Tourism Awards are about identifying the best service providers in the industry and acknowledging and awarding them for their dedication to service and product excellence,” said Thulani Nzima, Chief Executive Officer of South African Tourism.

“These are entrepreneurs who work assiduously to give visitors an extraordinary experience capped by superior excellence. Without these entrepreneurs, our destination would not be as recognized and renowned as it is,” he said.

Acting Chief Executive of Limpopo Tourism Agency, Bibi Kotsedi, said: “Participation in these highly contested provincial and national awards will not only elevate service level standards and visitor experience in our province but will also assist in raising our profile as a warm, peaceful and loving province”.

“It is against this background that our team will work jointly with the national team to lead the call for all tourism products in the province to participate in the awards,” he said.

A new category for tour operators has been added to the 2015 Awards. This will bring to nine the total number of categories in the 2015 Lilizela Tourism Awards. – SAnews.gov.za
