Lebowakgomo - The Limpopo Provincial Government has been hard at work intensifying the fight against HIV and Aids by increasing the number of healthcare centres offering comprehensive HIV and Aids treatment.

Delivering the State of the Province Address on Thursday, Limpopo Premier Cassel Mathale, said: "In 2009, we had only 80 healthcare centres with the necessary facilities to offer comprehensive HIV and Aids treatment and now we have 483 centres accredited to offer the treatment to our people.

"We are determined to increase this number."

Mathale, who delivered his speech in the provincial legislature, said the increase in facilities was living testimony of the provincial government's commitment to the fight against the spread of the disease.

He added that the province would continue forging ahead in the war against the disease until victory.

Other diseases such as diabetes, tuberculosis, malaria would also receive attention.

"These diseases are affecting many of our people and we have a responsibility to reduce and curb them," said the premier.
