Labour dispute halts checking of yellow fever documents

Tuesday, November 27, 2012

Pretoria - The Gauteng Department of Health says it is giving urgent attention to the labour dispute with port health officials, which has resulted in Yellow Fever desks being left unattended at airports.

The dispute was caused by the non-payment of overtime and night duty allowance.

However, the department said it was currently being resolved and work would resume soon.

"Plans by the department to resolve the matter include making money available to pay overtime and in the long term the department is considering to introduce a new shift system to avoid recurrence of the current dispute," said departmental spokesperson Simon Zwane.

He assured the community that the matter would soon be resolved and apologized for any inconvenience caused during this labour dispute. - SAnews.gov.za
