Thursday, April 27, 2017

Pretoria - The KwaDukuza local municipality has made a commitment to champion the fight against illicit drugs and substance abuse in the area.

The municipality is one of four municipalities under iLembe District Municipality, KwaZulu-Natal.

Mayor Ricardo Mthembu says what is needed is a solution based on a results-based programme. He said there is a need for an approach that will involve law enforcement and resources from the business community, religious groups, medical practitioners and members of the community.

“The message is clear: enough is enough. Drug lords will no longer be tolerated and we are no longer willing to accept lawlessness. We need a collective approach in dealing with this scourge, which means everyone must play a role in the fight against crime and drug peddling in order to promote social cohesion and nation building", said the Mayor on Wednesday.
