Justice Ngcobo to head Presidential Remuneration Commission

Monday, August 12, 2013

Pretoria – Former Chief Justice Sandile Ngcobo has been appointed to chair the Presidential Remuneration Review Commission.

Zuma announced during his State of the Nation Address in February that the Presidential Remuneration Review Commission would be established to investigate the appropriateness of the remuneration and conditions of service provided by the State to all its employees, with teachers receiving priority attention.

In 2012, a collective agreement was reached at the Public Service Coordinating Bargaining Council (PSCBC) that directs the State as employer to review the Remuneration Policy of the Public Service as per the process outlined in the Resolution 01 of 2012.

This process will entail the analysis of government spending on personnel and the benchmarking of salaries and conditions of services.

The Presidential Remuneration Review Commission will give effect to the PSCBC resolution.

"Through this commission, the State as an employer aims to ensure that government gets value for money paid on the salaries of public servants,” said President Zuma. – SAnews.gov.za
