Joburg studying legal papers on power cut-offs

Pretoria - The City of Johannesburg is studying the legal challenge documents it has received from companies complaining about electricity cut-offs.

The companies argue that the cut-offs are illegal. The firms have asked the South Gauteng High Court to stop the cut-offs.

"At this stage, we are not in a position to respond as we are still studying the documents," City spokesperson Nthathisi Modingoane told BuaNews.

The City has confirmed it has received a legal challenge from 13 companies that own property, demanding it stops cutting off power to their buildings.

The document is supposedly hundreds of pages long, showing examples of the wrong buildings being cut-off, accounts not being opened and undelivered bills to owners.

Modingoane said the City would continue to make sure that people paid, especially those that owe the City.
