Pretoria - Arts and Culture Deputy Minister Rejoice Mabudafhasi is to host a craft imbizo to discuss opportunities available in the arts, culture and heritage sector.
“The craft imbizo will amongst others, also provide a platform for crafters to engage on the challenges, share ideas on craft sectors’ development and how the craft sector can be better serviced moving forward,” the Department of Arts and Culture said.
The session will take place on Tuesday at the Mapenyalira Community Hall, Meqheleng, in Ficksburg, Free State.
The department said the craft sector has been acknowledged as one of the strategic sectors for socio-economic development and job creation in the country.
“Despite this, many challenges still beset this sector. These challenges range from access to information, access to viable markets, access to reasonably priced raw materials for craft production as well as access to funding and finance,” the department said. –SAnews.gov.za
