HR council to boost Limpopo’s skills development

Thursday, March 5, 2015

Pretoria - The provincial government of Limpopo will this morning unveil the Limpopo Human Resource Development Council (LHRDC) in Polokwane.

The council will be aligned with the Human Resource Development Council of South Africa (HRDCSA). It will play an important role in developing the much-needed skills to support social and economic development of the province.

The LHRDC will be spearheaded by the Premier of Limpopo, Chupu Mathabatha, who fully endorsed human resource development to build up the necessary skills required in the province during his State of the Province Address (SOPA) last month.

“The Human Resource Development Council will be advising the provincial government on matters related to skills development,” said the Premier.

Provincial government spokesperson Phuti Seloba said: “The principal aim of this initiative is to ensure coordination, alignment, integration, communication, collaboration, implementation and reporting on HRD imperatives in support of the Limpopo Development Plan (LDP), focusing on human resources and skills development as well as Local Economic Development Plans.”

Seloba said the provincial Human Resource Development Council is tasked with providing information in terms of progress, challenges and interventions regarding skills development in the province.

The rationale of establishing the Limpopo Human Resource Development Council is to set a platform at a high level for engagement with key stakeholders, in terms of skills development.

The council will also afford the Premier a strategic opportunity on a quarterly basis to address challenges and bottlenecks relating to human resource capital in the province. – SAnews.gov.za
