Home sweet home for Tigane residents

Pretoria – It’s a dream come true for 71-year-old Jacob Motsoane who has been waiting for more than 20 years to become a home owner.

“I am over the moon as I have been waiting for a house to call my own for more than 20 years but today, the house is in my name. I have long been waiting for this moment since we were the first to receive houses. Today my grandchildren have a place that they can call their own,’’ said an ecstatic Motsoane.

Motsoane was among the over 1 680 residents of Tigane and Alabama near Klerksdorp in Matlosana Local Municipality, who were recently handed title deeds by the North West Department of Local Government and Human Settlements.

Handing over the title deeds, MEC for Local Government and Human Settlements, Galaletsang Gaolaolwe, said the department is working around the clock to ensure housing, security and comfort for all housing beneficiaries, by issuing out title deeds.

“Our intention as the provincial government is to prioritise giving housing to the elderly, indigent and child-headed households.

“We can only restore the dignity of our people by providing them with decent houses that have proper sanitation, electricity and clean running water,” Gaolaolwe said. - SAnews.gov.za
