Thursday, October 29, 2026

The National Commissioner of the South African Police Service (SAPS), General Fannie Masemola, will today hand over 1 087 vehicles to strengthen policing capacity at grassroots level.

According to the police, the new fleet, which comprises sedans and double-cab bakkies, forms part of the SAPS’s ongoing efforts to enhance frontline service delivery, improve operational efficiency, increase police visibility and strengthen the Service’s crime-fighting capacity.

“The vehicles will be allocated to 140 high crime stations, Detectives, Visible Policing, Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Units, 10111 Call Centres and Flying Squads,” the police said in a statement ahead of Thursday’s handover.

“This investment is aimed at enhancing the operational readiness of police members, improving response times, strengthening investigations and ensuring that communities receive effective and efficient policing services,” the police said. – SAnews.gov.za
