Pretoria - North West Premier Thandi Modise has welcomed the police investigation into the alleged murder plot against Patrick Chauke, Chairperson of Select Committee on Public Accounts (Scopa) in the North West Provincial Legislature.

The alleged murder plot was published on page 1, 4 and 5 of Monday’s Sowetan. The newspaper reported that it had obtained a recording in which the spokesperson for the provincial Department of Social Development, Women, Children and People with Disabilities, Dan Selebano, discusses the need to “stop” Chauke.

The premier in a statement said she viewed the allegations in a serious light and trusted that the investigations by the organised crime unit, the Hawks, would shed light into the authenticity of the allegations.

She said the Department of Social Development, Women, Children and People with Disabilities had terminated its relationship with Selebano. – SAnews.gov.za
