Pretoria - Government has conveyed its deepest condolences to the families and friends of the pupils that lost their lives in a bus crash on the R66 between Ulundi and Kwaceza, KwaZulu-Natal.
According to media reports, the accident happened on Tuesday night while the bus was transporting pupils from Richards Bay to Kwaceza. Eight learners are believed to have been killed.
“This is an unfortunate incident. Drivers are urged to be vigilant on the road and obey all traffic laws. Vehicle safety inspections are important and should be conducted on a regular basis.
“Owners of public transport vehicles are particularly urged to comply with safety regulatory standards,” said Acting Government Communication and Information System (GCIS) CEO, Phumla Williams.
Government has commended the quick response of the emergency staff on the accident scene and has wished all those injured a speedy recovery. – SAnews.gov.za
