Pretoria - Government will look at various ways to celebrate the legacy of the late former Chief Justice Pius Langa, President Jacob Zuma said on Monday.

“Former Chief Justice Langa contributed immensely in our constitutional jurisprudence and fully deserves to be honoured by our Government. We will look at various ways in which we could celebrate his legacy, and make announcements at an appropriate time with regard to the best way of honouring the former Chief Justice,” he said in a written reply to a Parliamentary question.

Langa, who was the first black chief justice in South Africa following the first democratic elections in 1994, died in July following a long illness.

“The Chief Justice and the Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development will take a lead in this regard,” said Zuma.
