Gauteng motorists warned of road maintenance works

Pretoria - Gauteng motorists have been urged to drive carefully on the N1 North and South between the 14th Avenue and Buccleuch Interchanges were maintenance work is taking place.

The South African National Roads Agency Limited (SANRAL) said it was currently performing maintenance work in these areas and called on motorists to adhere to the reduced speed limits and other road signage for their own safety, and that of other road users and the road workers.

The work is being performed outside peak traffic hours and mostly at night. However, limited areas where the existing surfacing is removed and not replaced in the same shift will be exposed to traffic during peak periods.

"These areas will occur on the left hand side of the slow lane and will be at a slightly lower level than the adjacent surfacing creating a step in the road surface," SANRAL said.
