Pretoria - The Gauteng Department of Finance has rejected the finding of a disciplinary hearing which cleared senior manager Alfred Khana of any wrongdoing.

In a statement on Tuesday, John Sukazi, the spokesperson for Finance MEC Mandla Nkomfe, said the department rejected the decision of the disciplinary hearing involving Khana.

Khana had been facing allegations of fraud, sexual harassment and tender irregularities.

“The Gauteng Department of Finance has rejected the decision of the chairperson in a disciplinary case involving one of its senior managers, Mr Alfred Khana.

“We believe that the decision is flawed and did not consider the veracity of the charges,” said Sukazi.

The disciplinary processes against Khana began in 2011.

“In the meantime, Mr Khana is in the department, while we explore our options,” said the department.

The department has spent a total of R4.6 million on the Khana matter and other disciplinary cases involving employees.

Additionally, the department pointed out that it was committed to the fight against fraud and corruption. It has adopted a zero tolerance approach on corruption. - SAnews.gov.za
