Pretoria - The North West Human Settlements Department has started an initiative to ensure that it complies with good management and employment equity. It was hoped this would improve service delivery in the department.

The Departmental Consultative Forum (DCF) was launched on Wednesday by MEC Desbo Mohono.
"The purpose of this forum is to ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, promoting effective communication between management, employees and trade unions," said Mohono.
The DCF will also promote affirmative action and further ensure consultation on all employment policies and procedures.

Mohono said this would go a long way towards maintaining sound employment relations within the department, including dealing with matters pertaining to employee health and wellness.

The DCF, which includes department officials and employee representatives, will ensure thorough consultation on the preparation and implementation of the Employment Equity Plan and Report.

Mohono urged employees to rally behind the forum and also give the necessary support in whatever challenges they might face.

"The department is committed to create sound labour relations and ultimately democratise the workplace as stipulated in the constitution," said the MEC.
