Pretoria - Members of Cabinet are currently sitting in the first Cabinet Lekgotla of 2017 for a mid-term review of the Medium Term Strategic Framework (MTSF).

President Jacob Zuma is convening the four-day Lekgotla at Sefako Makgatho Presidential Guesthouse in Pretoria. The Lekgotla is attended by Ministers and Deputy Ministers, Premiers and representatives of the South African Local Government Association (SALGA).

Minister in the Presidency for Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation, Jeff Radebe, said there will be various presentations in the next four days, including the MTSF by his department, followed by progress on the Nine-Point Plan, Infrastructure Development Plan, and the National Intelligence Estimate.

“Among the issues that are going to be discussed are the Labour Intensive Programmes of government as well as issues around priorities of investment… The President convened what we call Invest South Africa, with about 40 priority projects,” said Minister Radebe.

He said the deliberations and contributions of the National Executive Committee Lekgotla that was held last week will play a critical role in the decisions that will be taken in the Cabinet Lekgotla this week.

“The information that comes from the NEC Lekgotla is part of today’s agenda,” said the Minister. - SAnews.gov.za
