Tuesday, May 6, 2014

Pretoria - As millions of voters around the country will queue to cast their votes on Wednesday, the South African Weather Service has predicted fine weather conditions for the day.

According to forecaster Lulama Phene, partly cloudy conditions are expected in the north eastern part of the country, while isolated thunder showers are expected over the central and southern part of the Northern Cape.

In Gauteng, the weather conditions are expected to be cool but warm over the remainder of the day.

“Hot conditions are expected in the southern east of the Western Cape. Overall, the weather is going to be fine tomorrow,” said Phene.

Today, the weather in Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, Mpumalanga and Limpopo is cloudy. Fine and warm weather is expected throughout the remainder of the day.

South Africa will on 7 May 2014 hold its fifth democratic national and provincial elections. The 2014 general election holds a special significance for South Africans, as the year marks the celebration of 20 Years of Freedom since the first democratic elections on 27 April 1994.

South Africans will use the celebrations to reflect on the journey travelled since 1994 in transforming the country and addressing socio-economic challenges inherited at the time, and on how the nation will work together towards Vision 2030.

This year, South Africans born after the first democratic elections in 1994 are eligible to vote for the first time. - SAnews.gov.za
