Employment Equity road show goes to N Cape, Limpopo

Monday, August 27, 2012

Pretoria - The Department of Labour is set to take its road show on Employment Equity (EE) and the Revised Code of Good Practice on HIV/Aids to the Northern Cape and Limpopo tomorrow.

The nationwide workshops are also intended to guide employers on successful EE reporting, particularly online reporting.

The presentation of the Revised Code of Good Practice on HIV/AIDS -- including tuberculosis and the World of Work and the department's Technical Assistance Guideline (TAG) -- follows last year's consultations with stakeholders to elicit inputs from employers and various stakeholders, with the assistance of the International Labour Orgranisation, to develop a set of guidelines and policies on how to deal with HIV/Aids and TB in the workplace.

This year's road shows are held under the theme 'Bridging the equity gap' and are aimed at employers or heads of companies, senior managers, consultative forum members, human resources practitioners, trade unions, employees, Black Economic Empowerment (BEE) rating agencies and community constituencies.

Manual and online reporting for EE reporting starts on 1 September 2012.

Manual reporting closes on 1 October 2012, while online reporting concludes on 15 January 2013.

To date, workshops have been conducted in Johannesburg and Pretoria (Gauteng province), Cape Town (Western Cape), East London and Port Elizabeth (Eastern Cape).
