Ekurhuleni residents' 2010 mark

Pretoria - Ekurhuleni residents have been given an opportunity to take part in making the 2010 FIFA World Cup a success.

As the 2010 Welcoming City and home of OR Tambo International Airport, the City will on Saturday conduct a mass registration of volunteers for World Cup activities that will take place in the area.

City spokesperson Zweli Dlamini told BuaNews that the required volunteers would be municipal volunteers who will be dispatched to the City's venue for World Cup activities.

Dlamini said their identity and accreditation would differentiate Ekurhuleni volunteers from the FIFA volunteers.

"We are unable to estimate the total number of volunteers we want at this stage. We also want to make it clear that these volunteers would be our own volunteers who will be utilised in our venues where we will be holding soccer world cup activities," Dlamini said on Tuesday.

The registration process will take place at Bulithando Park in KwaThema, Siluma Park in Katlehong and Ethafeni Park in Tembisa from 9am until 2pm on Saturday.
