Pretoria – The Mayor of Ekurhuleni Mondli Gungubele has called on residents to give inputs to the State of the City Address, set to take place on March 19.
The SoCA Tips Campaign kicked off on Facebook and the process gained momentum at the weekend when volunteers targeted a few shopping malls and churches with questionnaires.
The campaign will now target public areas, such as shopping malls and centres, customer care centres and churches.
"This is first time we are embarking on the SoCA Tips campaign and we do hope that our people will respond positively. We saw this work well with President Jacob Zuma's State of the Nation and we are quite optimistic and excited about it," said mayoral spokesman Zweli Dlamini.
He said the executive mayor believed that the community must have a say on this policy statement
Not all the comments received will be incorporated in the speech, but the information will be useful in assisting the municipality with its planning for the future, said Dlamini.
Residents can make their inputs via suggestion boxes at their nearest customer care centre, the executive mayor's Facebook page (Ekurhuleni Mayor - Mondli Gungubele), Ekurhuleni website (www.ekurhuleni.gov.za), email SOCA.tips@ekurhuleni.gov.za and/or lookout for the questionnaires which are being distributed all over Ekurhuleni, mainly in public places.
The closing date for the SoCA Tips Campaign is 11 March. – SAnews.gov.za
