Durban PVAs rock

Durban - Young and talented soccer tricksters entertained the crowd of approximately 18 000 fans at the Durban Fan Centre on Saturday night ahead of the first Group C encounter between England and the USA that ended in a draw.

The 25 degree Celsius weather had an almost 18 000 strong crowd rocking to Durban's very own Kwaito star, L'Vovo while Ukhozi FM MC's Khathide Ngobe and Dudu Khoza did a great job of getting the crowd revved up.

The Public Viewing Areas (PVAs) around Durban are also proving to be a hit with the fans.

Visitors to Durban and residents alike expressed their enthusiasm for the party atmosphere at the PVA in Umlazi's King Zwelithini Stadium.

"These are the best winter holidays ever," exclaimed several people, as they enjoyed the cool sounds of newly discovered talent, Phumlani Sibiya and the Amagroovies.

Meanwhile, the Bridge City PVA was flooded with a 'sea' of green and gold fans as the sounds of hundreds of vuvuzelas drew residents from their homes to join in the celebrations. New local group, Avatar, entertained the fans.

Vendors at both the Umlazi PVA and the Bridge City PVA said that business was coming along nicely and they're anticipating lots of support from local communities.

One owner of a popular food and beverage outlet was enthusiastic about his first two days of trading, admitting that sales of Durban favourites like samoosas and chilli bites had been good and met his targets.

And yet again, it seems like disappointing results certainly will not deter fans from partying.
