Crystal meth bust at OR Tambo Airport

Pretoria - The South African Revenue Service (SARS) has seized R4.26 million of liquid crystal methamphetamine (crystal meth) and detained a firearm, it said on Thursday.

“Customs officials found 15 one-litre bottles of the yellowish liquid, confirmed to be crystal meth, during a random check at a warehouse at OR Tambo International Airport,” said the Revenue Service of Wednesday’s incident.

The consignment was from India.

In another incident also on Wednesday, a firearm was found concealed in a lunch box when the traveller’s luggage was put through a baggage scanner at Beitbridge border post on Tuesday.

“The gun has been detained while the narcotics were handed over to the police for further investigations,” said SARS. – SAnews.gov.za
