Pretoria - The Hawks in Limpopo have arrested a Zimbabwean couple for running a bogus nursing college in Tzaneen.

Police spokesperson in Limpopo, Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi said the operation began after students, who registered with St Ignatious FET College, enquired from the Department of Higher Education about the legality of the college.

He said after the matter was referred to the Hawks for investigation, it was revealed that the college was not registered with the department.

Mulaudzi said the accreditation certificates from both the department and Umalusi which the college was using were bogus. Investigations are underway to establish the origin of the documents.

“No identification documentations were found in the possession of suspects during the arrest and investigations are underway to ascertain if they are in the country legally.

“The suspects, a 34-year-old woman and a man, 31, will appear in court soon,” he said. - SAnews.gov.za
