Condolences to the Tambo family

Pretoria - President Jacob Zuma has expressed his condolences to the Tambo family following the passing of Gertrude Tambo.

The late Gertrude Tambo was a sister to the late African National Congress (ANC) President Oliver Tambo. According to the Presidency, she passed on in the Eastern Cape this week.

“On behalf of government and the people of South Africa, we would like to express our sincere words of condolence to the Tambo family, the community of Mbizana and her political home, the African National Congress. May her soul rest in peace,” said President Zuma.

It is said that Tambo was one of the few remaining matriarchs of her community. - SAnews.gov.za
