Condolences sent to King Mota's family

Pretoria – The Ministry for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs has sent its deepest condolences to the Royal family of King Mota and the Kingship of Batlokoa Ba Mota.  

King Mota, who resided in Qwaqwa in the Free State, died on Tuesday at the Morningside Medi-Clinic, in Johannesburg.

King Mota was recognised as a paramount chief of Batlokoa in 1989 by the former government.

On 5 November 2010, he was recognised by President Jacob Zuma as a king of the Batlokoa Ba Mota Kingship.

He also served as a Minister in the former Qwaqwa government. In addition, he was also a member of both the Free State Provincial and the National Houses of Traditional Leaders.

The Ministry, the Free State Provincial Government, as well as the National House of Traditional Leaders said they have lost a pioneer in the transformation of the institution of traditional leaders, especially on issues of culture, custom and tradition. – SAnews.gov.za
