Pretoria - President Jacob Zuma has extended his condolences to the Higher Education and Training Minister Blade Nzimande and his family on the sad passing of his mother, Nozipho Nzimande.

The Presidency says the Minister’s mother passed on, on Sunday evening. She turned 90-years-old last month.

“We extend our deepest condolences to Minister Nzimande and family on the passing on of this much-loved matriarch.

“May they find strength to cope with the difficulty that this end of an era brings to the family. Our thoughts and prayers are with family at this difficult time,” said President Zuma.

The Presidency on Monday said Mrs Nzimande warmly received the South African Communist Party (SACP) and the African National Congress (ANC) activists in her home during the difficult period of the violence that engulfed Pietermaritzburg and surroundings during the late 1980s and early 1990s. - SAnews.gov.za
