Community radio forum welcomes new Minister

Pretoria - The National Community Radio Forum (NCRF) has welcomed the appointment of Minister Faith Muthambi to the Ministry of Communications.

The forum is the mother body of over 124 community radio stations in the country.

President Jacob Zuma announced on Sunday that Muthambi is the new Minister of Communications and Stella Ndabeni-Abrahams is the deputy.

“We have been able to work very well with Minister Yunis Carrim and we appreciate his sterling work over the period he took over the department,” the forum said in a statement.

Minister Faith Muthambi says she is looking forward to her new role as Communications Minister and is honoured to serve the people of South Africa.

The new Ministry of Communications comprises the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (Icasa), the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC), Government Communication and Information System (GCIS), Brand SA and the Media Development and Diversity Agency (MDDA). – SAnews.gov.za
