Cocaine bust worth R2.9m

Pretoria - A woman was bust with cocaine worth R2.9 million at OR Tambo International Airport, the South African Revenue Service (SARS) said on Monday.

The woman, who was travelling from Brazil with 10.405kg cocaine, was intercepted at the airport on Sunday.

According to the revenue service, the passenger was travelling to Maputo in Mozambique and claimed that she did not check in any luggage.

“The passenger was escorted to the Customs inspection area where it was found that she had checked in luggage with nine handbags that carried narcotics. The woman has been handed over to SA Police Service for investigation and prosecution,” said SARS. – SAnews.gov.za
