Johannesburg - Johannesburg's City Power has warned that certain residential areas will be affected by its planned power outages at the weekend.

The power cut is scheduled for 11pm on Saturday night up until 6am on Sunday, City Power spokesperson Louis Pieterse told BuaNews on Thursday.

City Power will be continuing with the upgrading and maintenance of its electricity distribution network in the Industria area of Johannesburg.

Other affected areas include Maraisburg road, Bunsen Street, Lowenthal, Bosmont, Nobel, and Fulton.

"We are doing this to ensure safety, reliability and efficient electricity supply to our customers. As safety is our priority, we normally interrupt power supply to customers during the upgrading of the network," he said.
