Catch mini budget live on TV and radio

Wednesday, October 26, 2016

Pretoria – South Africans have been encouraged to watch or listen to the Medium Term Budget Policy Statement (MTBPS) – the mini budget – which will be broadcast live across many platforms from 2pm today.

The mini budget will be live on community radio stations, SABC Channel 404, SABC 2, ANN7, eNCA, RSGFM, SAfm, IkwekweziFM, PowerFM and Radio702.

Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan will table the MTBPS at 2pm in Parliament.

The Government Communication and Information System (GCIS) will facilitate a link-up to community radio stations across the country so that members of the public can listen to the proceedings.

The public is encouraged to share their views and engage in a meaningful dialogue on Twitter with the hashtag #MTBPS2016.

“The MTBPS is an important part of South Africa’s open and accountable budget process. The MTBS also sets out the fiscal policy objectives and spending priorities over the three-year expenditure period. Therefore, it is important for the public to engage with this process,” said GCIS Acting Director General Donald Liphoko. – SAnews.gov.za
