Pretoria – Cabinet has conveyed condolences to the Nqakula family following the death of Chumani Nqakula, says Minister in the Presidency for Planning Monitoring and Evaluation, Jeff Radebe.
The Minister on Thursday briefed media in Cape Town on the outcomes of the Cabinet meeting held on Wednesday.
“Cabinet was saddened about the untimely death of Chumani Nqakula, the son of Defence and Military Veterans Minister Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula and Charles Nqakula, a Member of Parliament.
“Cabinet conveys its sincerest condolences to the Nqakula family and friends,” said the Minister.
Chumani Nqakula was stabbed to death in Bezuidenhout Valley, Johannesburg, at the weekend.
The man accused of fatally stabbing him, 24-year-old Carlos Higuera, appeared in the Johannesburg Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday where his lawyer revealed he had shown signs of a mental illness.
Minister Radebe said Cabinet also extended condolences to the family and relatives of Public Service and Administration Minister Nkoako Ramatlhodi following the passing away for his 95-year-old mother Mmatlou Elizabeth Ramathlodi. – SAnews.gov.za
