Amajita ready for Lesotho

Wednesday, April 20, 2011

Pretoria - The South African national under-20 soccer team, Amajita, has been hard at work ahead of today's Orange African Youth Championship second group stage match against neighbouring Lesotho.

The match will be played at the Dobsonville stadium and kick-off is at 12:00.

Amajita lost 4-2 against Mali in the opening match on Sunday and will be looking to better their Group A standings.

South Africa and Lesotho occupy position three and four respectively, with no points below Mali and Egypt who both have three points after one match.

Amajita head coach Maqsood Chenia said the team is expecting a tough encounter against Lesotho, but the technical team has been hard at work planning for Wednesday's match.

Chenia said the team must move on from a disappointing result against Mali, and focus on the remaining matches and try to get maximum points.

"The match against Mali is obviously something we would like to correct in terms of converting our chances into goals.

"We knew it would be a strong Mali team, but we must also take the blame of not scoring from all those chances created, but there are a lot of positives taken from that match. It is gratifying to know that a lot of people thoroughly enjoyed watching the boys' display.

"Going forward, we need to make sure that we are strong and much more organised at the back. The match against Lesotho will be some sort of psychological warfare because we have a lot of history with them. We need a result as much as they do, so it will be a very interesting match," said Chenia. -BuaNews
