The 13th National Municipal Managers Forum, which will discuss the policy agenda of local government, is set for Monday.
Organised by the South African Local Government Association (SALGA), the forum will pay attention to matters affecting municipal managers; explore innovations and good practices to improve municipal performance and most importantly, review and make improvements to the municipal managers’ forum.
Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs Minister Zweli Mkhize is scheduled to make a keynote address at the opening session of the forum.
The forum takes place as the Minister is spearheading a national Municipal Recovery Programme aimed at turning dysfunctional and distressed municipalities around.
The forum will enable the Minister to engage accounting officers, who are at the coalface and are an integral part of the efforts to ensure that municipalities function effectively and efficiently.
The forum will be held at the Germiston Civic Centre. - SAnews.gov.za
