Abrahams appointed new permanent NDPP head

Pretoria- President Jacob Zuma on Thursday announced the appointment of a permanent head of the National Director of Public Prosecutions (NDPP).

The President announced that he has appointed Advocate Shaun Kevin Abrahams – a senior state advocate in the Priority Crimes Litigation Unit in the Office of the National Director of Public Prosecutions - with immediate effect. 

Abrahams has 17 years of experience in the prosecution service.

During this period, he has accumulated vast experience and has gained impeccable technical expertise, said President Zuma.

“I am confident that he will be able to enhance the efficiency of the National Prosecuting Authority. I wish him well in this critical responsibility.”

Abrhams holds a Baccalareus (B Iuris) degree, Baccalaureus Procurationis (B Proc) and Bachelor of Laws (LLB), all from the University of Natal, now University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN).

President Zuma has extended his gratitude to Silas Ramaite, who has been acting as NDPP after Mxolisi Nxasana, left the office last month. – SAnews.gov.za
