The Department of Employment and Labour will, starting from today, embark on the first leg of massive inspections on all Southern Sun hotels countrywide, starting at Southern Sun Hotel in Rosebank.
In a statement, the department said this follows an incident which occurred at the Southern Sun Hotel in Rosebank on 13 November 2023.
“These inspections would be utilised to, inter alia, test compliance levels with all the employment laws that are regulated by the department.
“We believe that it’ll also be an opportune time to engage with the Southern Sun Hotel’s management on processes that would contribute towards improved compliance with the labour laws,” Inspector General, Aggy Moiloa, said.
Moiloa said the department looks forward to collaborating with the employer to mitigate against factors that may hinder compliance.
The department said it views the Southern Sun group as an important role player in building the economy of the country. – SAnews.gov.za
