R2.3m cocaine bust at OR Tambo Airport

Pretoria - A woman travelling from Sao Paolo, Brazil, was intercepted with 8kg of cocaine worth R2.3 million at OR Tambo International Airport.

The South African Revenue Service (SARS) Customs’ inspectors in the detector dog unit intercepted the passenger on Sunday with 8kg of cocaine, estimated at R2.3 million, in a suitcase.

SARS said the woman’s luggage was scanned and five handbags lined with secret compartments were found inside one of the two suitcases after the dog reacted positively to the bag.

The woman was handed over to the police. – SAnews.gov.za
