Pretoria – Local residents living outside of Lephalale, in Limpopo, will get a chance to interact with acting Communications Minister, Mosebenzi Zwane, during the national Imbizo Focus Week, at Ga-Seleka, on Monday.
Four months ago, Communications Minister Faith Muthambi visited the village and listened to the challenges residents faced and made commitments to improve service delivery.
Acting Minister Zwane is expected to share with residents the status of the three houses that are currently being built, which are near completion. He will also tell residents about the progress that has been made towards the establishment of an Information Communication Technology (ICT) Centre.
During her visit at the settlement last year, Minister Muthambi visited the family of Martha Buna, 41, who lives in a two-roomed shack with her four children. The Minister also visited Madibana-Moshidi, 50, who is squatting at her late uncle’s house with her children and grandchildren. She also visited Itumeleng Ngoepe, 35, who lives in a one room shack with her three siblings and their nine children.
Imbizo
Minister Zwane will officially launch the fourth National Imbizo Focus Week under the theme “Together we move South Africa Forward”. The fourth National Imbizo Focus Week, which is planned for 4-10 April 2016, is set to coincide with the Parliamentary Constituency Week and the commemoration of Freedom Month.
The Imbizo is in line with the President's call for Ministers and Deputy Ministers to interact with communities. The Izimbizo programme ensures constant engagements between the National, Provincial and Local Executives and communities.
The Imbizo Focus Week will also provide comprehensive details on the expected outcome of implementing the Nine-Point Plan with specifics such as investment; industrialisation; agriculture; land reform; mining; energy; infrastructure development programme, labour; social security; higher education; health and local government.-SAnews.gov.za
