Pretoria - Deputy President Kgalema Motlanthe kicked off his official visit to the Nordic countries on Wednesday when he arrived in Stockholm, Sweden.
Motlanthe's visit takes place within the framework of the Declaration of Intent relating to partnerships in Africa that was signed between South Africa, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden in 2008.
The aim of the visit is to further strengthen political and economic relations with the Nordic countries; promote the African Agenda; share views on the reform of global governance institutions; and to exchange notes on preparations for COP17.
Motlanthe is accompanied by Deputy Ministers Marius Fransman of International Relations and Cooperation, Thandi Tobias-Pokolo of Trade and Industry and Hlengiwe Mkhize of Higher Education and Training.
