Pretoria - Deputy President and SADC Facilitator, Cyril Ramaphosa, will tomorrow undertake a working visit to Maputo, Mozambique, for a consultative meeting to discuss developments in Lesotho.

“The consultative meeting is part of ongoing SADC efforts to consolidate peace and stability in the Kingdom of Lesotho,” the Presidency said on Monday.

Convened by the President of Mozambique, Filipe Nyusi, in his capacity as the Chairperson of the SADC Organ Troika on Politics, Defence and Security, the meeting will also be attended by Lesotho's Prime Minister Phakalitha Mosisili.

Deputy President Ramaphosa is the SADC facilitator on Lesotho whose efforts to bring about peace and stability in the mountain kingdom have resulted in the reopening of parliament, the holding of democratic elections and the inauguration of a democratic government.

Under his facilitation, SADC continues to support Lesotho through the Commission of Inquiry.

The independent Commission of Inquiry was established to look into the circumstances surrounding the alleged assassination of the former Lesotho Defence Force Commander Brigadier Maaparankoe Mahao. - SAnews.gov.za
