New Mineral Resources Minister sworn in

Pretoria – Newly appointed Minister of Mineral Resources, Mosebenzi Joseph Zwane, has been sworn in at the Union Buildings, in Pretoria.

Minister Zwane took the oath of office during a ceremony held on Wednesday afternoon after the announcement of his appointment by President Jacob Zuma on Tuesday evening.

President Zuma and Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa witnessed the ceremony.

A Member of Parliament, the Minister took over the reins from Advocate Ngoako Ramatlhodi, who has been appointed as Public Service and Administration Minister, following the death of former Minister Collins Chabane in March 2015.

Minister Zwane has previously served as MEC in the portfolios of Agriculture and Rural Development as well as Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs in the Free State Provincial Government.

Judge of the Constitutional Court, Justice Johann van der Westhuizen administered the oath of office.

During the swearing-in, the Minister, accompanied by his family, promised to hold office with honour and dignity; to respect and uphold the Constitution and all other laws of the Republic of South Africa.

He also promised not to divulge directly or indirectly secret matters entrusted to him and to perform the duties of his office conscientiously and to the best of his ability. – SAnews.gov.za
