Pretoria - President Jacob Zuma has extended his condolences tp the Mchunu clan, following the death of the KwaZulu-Natal chief, Inkosi Simakade Mchunu.
"We wish to convey, on behalf of government and the people of South Africa, our heartfelt condolences to the family and Isizwe sama Chunu sonkana! May his soul rest in peace," said President Zuma.
Mchunu had reigned over the Msinga and Greytown areas in the province. He died following a long illness.
He was 91 years old and had been the reigning Traditional Leader of the Mchunu clan since 1944.
He has been described as an inimitable leader who played a pivotal role in bringing about peace and stability in the province and in particular the area of Msinga which had become notorious for faction fighting. – SAnews.gov.za
