Pretoria - President Jacob Zuma will on Friday join South Africans in commemorating the 22nd anniversary of the assassination of struggle stalwart Chris Hani.
Hani was assassinated on 10 April 1993 outside his home in Dawn Park by Janusz Waluś and Clive Derby-Lewis.
The commemoration of the death of the former SA Communist Party (SACP) leader will take place in Boksburg, in Ekurhuleni.
At the event, President Zuma is expected to declare Hani’s grave a heritage site and unveil the Chris Hani Memorial and Walk of Remembrance Monument.
The day’s events will also include a wreath laying ceremony at Hani's gravesite and a memorial lecture at the Germiston Lake Park to be delivered by Mineral Resources Minister, Adv Ngoako Ramatlhodi.
The month of April has been dubbed Chris Hani month by the City of Ekurhuleni. - SAnews.gov.za
