Red carpet lights up with MPs, dignitaries

Pretoria – Members of Parliament and invited guests have begun walking up the red carpet leading to the National Assembly in Parliament, where the President will address the nation in about two hours.

President Jacob Zuma will deliver the State of the Nation Address at 7pm to a joint sitting of Parliament. The speech will be broadcast live on television, radio and at public viewing sites around the country.

Thus far, Arts and Culture Minister Nathi Mthethwa, Small Business Development Minister Lindiwe Sisulu, Water and Sanitation Minister Nomvula Mokonyane and Minister of Transport Dipuo Peters have arrived.

Kwaito musician Arthur Mafokate and Bantu Holomisa of the United Democratic Movement have also been spotted on the red carpet.

Traditional dancers and marimba players are entertaining dignitaries as the country await President Jacob Zuma’s arrival.  – SAnew.gov.za
