Pretoria - Home Affairs Minister Malusi Gigaba has met with the Western Cape Provincial Legislature’s Standing Committee on Economic Opportunities, Tourism and Agriculture to discuss the Immigration Regulations.
“The meeting forms part of Minister Gigaba’s undertaking to actively engage all relevant stakeholders with a view to garner and welcome all constructive views that will further refine the immigration regulations,” the Department of Home Affairs spokesperson Mayihlome Tshwete said.
In the meeting, which was held on Tuesday, committee chairperson BA Schafer informed Minister Gigaba that the committee had prepared a report based on public hearings, which discussed immigration regulations.
The department invited the committee to submit its report.
Minister Gigaba said the department would continue to ensure a balance between national security imperatives and those of economic development in South Africa. – SAnews.gov.za
