Pretoria - The City of Tshwane is slowly restoring its bus service after it was interrupted last week by the striking employees.
According to the city, 90 buses were operating on Wednesday. The city has about 150 buses that operate on a daily basis.
"We are not certain how many trips the buses made, however, there were no acts of intimidation," said city spokesperson Console Tleane.
The buses were driven by workers who are not affected by the dismissals that are currently being undertaken by the city against 1 054 workers who went on an illegal strike last week.
The city is hopeful that the situation will normalised soon.
On Tuesday, Mayor Kgosientso Ramokgopa said dismissed bus drivers will not be automatically reinstated until due processes had taken place. He apologised to commuters for the inconvenience.
